Project Allocation Criteria
To reduce the amount of time you have to spend searching and applying for projects, we only show you projects which you are eligible for. Your eligibility depends on your location, the languages you speak, and the skills or qualifications you might have. Some of our projects require specific demographics to ensure a representative perspective on different types of content or data, or where we are trying to overcome known biases in products e.g. we’ve recruited people with specific speech impediments to help us make voice assistants more effective and inclusive. Remember, you can edit your Profile at any time –e.g. if you relocate to a new country or earn a new qualification that will make you eligible for further projects. Applying to some projects and not others does not influence your ability to apply for further projects. Project availability is based solely on client project requirements: country, language skill, equipment accessibility (smartphones, for example), demographics (such as age groups for projects focusing on senior citizens' use of voice assistants).
Not applying to some projects will NOT influence what projects you are able to access and apply for - the only criteria is eligibility based on information they have provided through the signup process. For instance, if you’ve indicated in your Profile that you’re proficient only in German, you wouldn't be able to apply for projects involving photo annotation in Bahasa.
Please note that if there are any substantive changes to methods of managing and allocating tasks, they’ll be preceded by a worker consultation.
Exception on specific specialized projects
Previous project performance generally influences qualification primarily for specific projects that require subject matter expertise. This scenario is applicable to a minority of projects where we seek a small group of specialized professionals possessing finely tuned skills, such as Transcription, Translation, Linguistics, or domain-specific expertise like Legal and Healthcare.
In such cases, we may invite contributors who have performed well in similar past projects. This approach ensures the swift formation of specialist teams to tackle the task at hand effectively. Please note, this is the exception, not the rule, in our qualification process.
